| Abstract | Este informe presenta el procedimiento metodológico de un sistema de monitoreo y alerta de deforestación para identificar y mapear áreas de desmonte en formaciones de bosque tropical, denominado Proyecto de Detección de Áreas Deforestadas en Tiempo Real (*DETER). EL proyecto se inserta en el contexto del monitoreo de la Amazonia brasileña por satélite que está en funcionamiento en el **INPE, desde mayo de 2004. DETER es parte de las actividades del Plan de Acción para la Prevención y Control de la Deforestación en la amazonia brasileña, de responsabilidad del Grupo Permanente de Trabajo Interministerial (GPTI), coordinado por la Casa Civil. El objetivo de DETER es supervisar, de una manera operacional, la deforestación ocurrida, cada quince días, a través de imágenes de los satélites MODIS/TERRA y/o WFI/CBERS-2 que posee una resolución temporal alta. DETER tiene como base el Proyecto de Estimación de Deforestación de la Amazonia (PRODES), que estima la proporción anual de deforestación, desde la década de 70. Las informaciones de DETER fueron disponibilizadas en la Internet a partir de diciembre de 2004, y están siendo usadas en la implantación de un sistema de fiscalization eficaz, por parte del Gobierno Federal. Las áreas deforestadas, detectadas a lo largo del año, son presentadas cronológicamente, para mostrar la evolución de las actividades de la deforestación en la región Amazonica. ABSTRACT: This report presents the methodological procedure of a deforestation alert system, to identify and map deforested areas in tropical forest formations, denominated Detection of Deforested Areas in Real Time Project (DETER). The project is inserted in the context of the Brazilian Amazon Forest Monitoring by satellite, and is in operation, at INPE, since May of 2005. The DETER is part of the activities of the Action Plan to prevent and to control deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon, under the responsibility of the Interministerial Permanent Working Group, coordinated by Civil House. The objective of the DETER is to monitor, in an operational way, the deforestation observed, every fifteen days, using MODIS/Terra and/or WFI/CBERS satellite images, which have high temporal resolution. The DETER is based on the Amazon Deforestation Estimate Project (PRODES), which estimates the annual deforestation rate, since the seventies. The DETER information is available in the Internet, since December 2004, and is being used in the implementation of an efficient fiscalization system, by the Federal Government. The detected deforested areas, throughout the year, are presented, chronologically, to show the evolution of the deforestation activities in the Amazon Region. | ||||||
